Who We Are?

Softball

The Chartiers Valley Communities Girls Softball League has existed for 30+ years.  We offer highly competitive recreation softball for girls 6U thru 18U for fast and slow pitch as the largest softball league in Western Pennsylvania and border towns of West Virginia.  We offer Spring and Fall seasons organized by divisions.  The CVC for many years between early 2000's to 2021 had less than 100 teams, from areas such as Findlay Twp, North Fayette, Oakdale, Collier, Bridgeville, South Fayette, Scott Township, Robinson Twp, Kennedy Twp, McDonald, Midway, etc.  We even had boys baseball teams in the early 2000's.  The parabolic growth years started in 2019 when South Hills organizations joined the league.  The next big jump was 2022 when organizations from Washington County and the Mon Yough League joined the CVC.  By 2023 the CVC had over 200 teams in the Spring season.  2025 the league had over 300 teams in the Spring when the Mon Valley League in South Washington County, Green County and Fayette County and slow pitch starting to migrate to CVC from SWIG and GPGSL leagues.  2026 was another record year with 377 teams in the Spring, as most of the growth that year was all of the largest slow pitch leagues in the area bringing all their teams to the CVC from the SWIG and GPGSL.  Our reach at 6u, 8u, and fast pitch goes from beyond the Pittsburgh airport as far south as West Virginia and south Washington County/Green County/Fayette County, and all the way down the Ohio and Monongahela Rivers to the Fort Pitt tunnels entering Pittsburgh and east past Kennywood Park.  Slow Pitch reach is even further after absorbing teams north of Pittsburgh and around the City of Pittsburgh to be by far the dominant league for Slow Pitch with just under 100 teams. 


Spring softball season is a highly competitive season where roster rules exist and scores and standings are recorded, including playoffs.  Top 3 teams each division in regular season receive trophies.  Typically 8, 12 or 16 teams make playoffs depending on the size of the age group.  Playoff champion and Runner-Up receive hoodies, team trophy and USA Softball team plaque.  All teams at 8u play in an end of year tournament, either the Gold bracket (top half of the league) or Silver bracket (bottom half of the league).  Players  age is based on the USA Softball age chart which uses Aug 31st of the prior year to determine the players age.


Fall season purpose is to offer a season where players will play in their age group for the next spring season for developmental purposes between early September and thru the end of October.  Players  age is based on the USA Softball age chart which uses Aug 31st of the current year to determine the players age.  No rosters are submitted.  No scores or standings are maintained.
